Rogers State University Holds Technology Day on the Hill
Claremore, Okla. – Rogers State University recently hosted its Technology Day on the Hill event to showcase the technology and justice programs available to students in northeast Oklahoma. Dr. Curt Sparling, department head of technology studies and justice studies at RSU, highlighted the various activities and programs available to prospective students.
The event featured demonstrations on unmanned aerial systems (drones), cybersecurity, forensics investigations, artificial intelligence, and game design. Participants had the opportunity to earn their FAA trust certificate and learn how to fly drones, as well as engage in coding and fingerprinting exercises. Dr. Sparling emphasized the importance of showcasing these programs to dispel the misconception that STEM fields are difficult to pursue.
Interacting with current students and faculty in these fields allows prospective students to see the potential for success in technology and justice studies. By bringing together current and prospective students, RSU hopes to encourage more individuals to pursue a STEM degree and explore career opportunities in these fields.
