Small plane crashes into residential area in Pennsylvania, causing injuries to five people

All five people on board a small plane that crashed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday survived and were taken to hospitals. The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, had just taken off from Lancaster Airport when it went down in a retirement community. No injuries were reported on the ground, although five vehicles were damaged. First responders arrived quickly and extinguished fires at the scene. The plane appeared to have skidded upon impact and narrowly avoided hitting any structures. Residents were initially told to shelter in place as a precaution. The aircraft was scheduled to fly to Ohio when someone on board reported an open door and requested to return to the airport. The National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into the crash, working alongside the FAA. Authorities have not provided details on the condition of the five individuals on board. Despite the crash, officials are relieved that all survived and no one on the ground was injured. The plane is registered to an entity in Manheim, and federal officials will investigate the possibility of an open door on the aircraft as part of their inquiry. The community of Brethren Village, where the crash occurred, did not immediately provide further information.
