VALENTINE, Neb. — News Channel Nebraska (NCN) is set to broadcast the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association (NeHSRA) state finals live from Valentine on Saturday, June 14, marking a significant return to television for the event since its last airing in 2009.

This exciting live coverage will highlight the state’s best young talent in various rodeo events, including bareback riding, goat tying, steer wrestling, pole bending, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Over 160 contestants from across Nebraska will compete over the three-day event, showcasing their skills and dedication to the sport.

Jill Austin, NeHSRA state secretary, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with NCN, noting, “It’s a great way to show more people in Nebraska what our rodeo family is all about and why we love this sport so much.” Brandon Aksamit, NCN’s executive director of sports content, echoed this sentiment, stating, “These cowboys and cowgirls deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to this tough sport.”

Leading the commentary for the broadcast is Scott Poese, general manager of KBRX, who brings 15 years of local rodeo announcing experience in Nebraska and South Dakota. The live coverage begins at 12:55 p.m. CT / 11:55 a.m. MT.

Viewers can tune in statewide through various cable providers, and additional options include watching via the News Channel Nebraska app on platforms like Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire. The event is made possible with the support of sponsors including Leachman Cattle Company, Fulton Ranch Performance Horses, and Nucor.
