Nebraska Received Significant Recruiting Update on Thursday

Matt Rhule and Nebraska Cornhuskers Secure Four-Star QB Trae Taylor Commitment

In a significant boost for their recruiting efforts, Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers welcomed four-star quarterback Trae Taylor on board Thursday. Taylor, a standout from Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Illinois, is recognized as the country’s No. 3 quarterback and the 35th overall prospect in the Class of 2027, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

During his commitment announcement on a livestream, Taylor playfully donned an Illinois cap before casting it aside, signaling his choice of Nebraska. "Committing to Nebraska is amazing, but I still need to prove why I am the best player in 2027 this year," he stated, highlighting his determination.

Taylor’s decision follows an unofficial visit to Nebraska where he interacted closely with co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas, as well as current Nebraska standout Dylan Raiola. "Sitting down with Coach Thomas and seeing how he coaches Dylan really made me eager to join this program," Taylor expressed, acknowledging the challenge of committing early, given the long wait until he can fully embrace college football.

In his sophomore season, Taylor showcased his talent with impressive statistics, throwing for 3,061 yards, along with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M shortly after his trip to Lincoln, emphasizing the competitive nature of his recruitment.

Communication with Nebraska coaches was consistent in the days following his return from Texas A&M, further solidifying his commitment. "Everybody in that building has made it clear that they want me. Their offense fits me the best – very pro-style," Taylor stated, reinforcing that Nebraska’s program aligns perfectly with his aspirations of reaching the NFL.

With an upcoming matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats on August 28, 2025, Nebraska continues to build momentum on the recruiting front.
