Gov. Jim Pillen and John Cook Promote Cornhusker College Rodeo
LINCOLN, Neb. — Governor Jim Pillen and former Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook are rallying support for the upcoming Cornhusker College Rodeo, set to take place on May 2 and 3 at the Sandhills Global Event Center in Lincoln.
The duo recently rode around the governor’s mansion alongside the University of Nebraska-Lincoln rodeo team, highlighting the event’s significance. "I became interested in the team after watching a practice," said Cook. He emphasized the importance of building a dedicated facility for the program. "The dream was to get a facility going, which they are preparing to break ground on. The students are just as talented and competitive as Nebraska’s top athletes," he added.
The UNL rodeo program boasts a rich history, having been established nearly 70 years ago, and competes in the Great Plains Region, seeking a chance to qualify for the prestigious College National Finals Rodeo. The event promises to showcase exceptional talent and foster greater awareness for collegiate rodeo sports in Nebraska.
