Nebraska freshman guard Nick Janowski, a four-star recruit from 2024, has entered the transfer portal after redshirting his first season with the Huskers. Janowski, along with two other players, had been expected to potentially earn minutes next season. Head coach Fred Hoiberg had high hopes for Janowski and fellow redshirt Braden Frager. Janowski, known for his shooting and success in high school, averaged 30.8 points as a senior and led his team to several state championships. He will have four seasons of eligibility left at his next destination. Janowski is the second Nebraska player to enter the transfer portal, following guard Gavin Griffiths. Despite these departures, the Huskers have added three transfers to their roster for the upcoming season. The team looks to build on its nucleus and incorporate new talents like Iowa wing Pryce Sandfort, Central Michigan big Ugnius Jarusevicius, and former Husker Jamarques Lawrence from Rhode Island.
