Nebraska men’s basketball is facing a transfer portal departure less than 24 hours after winning the College Basketball Crown. Guard Gavin Griffiths, a 6-7 sophomore who spent one season at Nebraska after playing at Rutgers, has decided to leave the team. In his lone season with the Huskers, Griffiths struggled to make an impact, averaging only 2.1 points on 34.2% shooting in 16 games. He did not play in the College Basketball Crown tournament in Las Vegas.
Griffiths’ departure marks the first official player exit following head coach Fred Hoiberg’s sixth season in Lincoln. Nebraska has already added two transfers, Pryce Sandfort and Ugnius Jarusevicius, but will also need to replace several departing players, including senior stars Juwan Gary and Brice Williams.
