Every year, the sandhill cranes make their way to central Nebraska for their annual migration, creating a spectacular sight along the Platte River. Recently, KETV producer Matt Brown captured the beauty of this migration at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary in Gibbon. Spending 15 hours in a blind, Brown was able to witness the cranes in their natural habitat as they gathered along the riverbanks.
The Audubon Center reported that last weekend, around 700,000 cranes were in the area, with another 300,000 expected to arrive this weekend. The migration of these birds has become a popular attraction for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers from all over.
