Nebraska football dismisses receiver Hardley Gilmore IV, who decides to transfer

Nebraska receiver Hardley Gilmore IV was dismissed from the team by head coach Matt Rhule. The sophomore, who transferred from Kentucky, played seven games as a freshman with the Wildcats. Coach Rhule did not provide a reason for the dismissal but clarified that it was not due to any criminal activity. However, Gilmore was charged with misdemeanor assault in December for allegedly punching a person in the face at a storage facility in Kentucky.

The announcement was made on Saturday, with Rhule wishing Gilmore the best as he moves forward. Gilmore joined his teammate Dane Key and receivers coach Daikiel Shorts Jr. on the Husker roster. Despite the lack of a specific reason for the dismissal, it is clear that Gilmore will no longer be with the team.

This news comes as a surprise to many, especially given Gilmore’s potential as a young player. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him in terms of his football career. For now, the Nebraska team will move forward without him as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season.
