Man’s identity revealed by Central Nebraska authorities after death at Mormon Island State Recreation Area


A 64-year-old Doniphan man, Randy Imler, tragically died in a suspected drowning incident at the Mormon Island State Recreation Area in Hall County. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency crews responded to the scene around 5:15 p.m. and found Imler’s body in the water. Investigators believe the death was accidental and have ruled out foul play.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, Doniphan Volunteer Fire Department, and Grand Island Dive Rescue Team were among the responders at the scene. Sgt. Jeremy Jones stated that evidence suggests Imler was alone and likely unloading his boat when the incident occurred.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and being cautious when engaging in water activities. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Randy Imler during this difficult time.
