A super PAC associated with billionaire Elon Musk, called America PAC, has started spending in two Republican-leaning House seats in Florida ahead of special elections next week. The PAC, which was largely funded by Musk in 2024, is investing $20,000 in texting services to support Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis in the 1st Congressional District and state Sen. Randy Fine in the 6th District. While the spending is modest compared to other amounts in the races, it indicates Musk’s interest in the contests as he becomes more politically engaged while advising the White House. America PAC has also allocated millions for a state Supreme Court race in Wisconsin. The special elections in Florida are being held in areas that heavily lean Republican, with President Trump winning both districts by large margins in the previous election. However, House Republican leaders are concerned about the 6th District race to replace former Rep. Mike Waltz, who resigned to join Trump’s team. Fine trails in fundraising behind his Democratic opponent, while Patronis faces a similar situation, although less severe, against his Democratic opponent. Both candidates have received endorsements from Trump and have been promoted on his social media platform, Truth Social.
