Nebraska Volleyball Culture Shown Through Staff and Player Retention

The University of Nebraska’s volleyball team has experienced a smooth transition following legendary coach John Cook’s retirement. New head coach Dani Busboom Kelly has retained key staff members Jaylen Reyes, Kelly (Hunter) Natter, and Lindsay “Wisch” Peterson. The decision to keep Cook’s assistants was based on their love for Nebraska and the program’s goals. Reyes has been instrumental in recruiting and elevating Nebraska’s profile. Natter, a former national champion player, has helped develop top players like Bergen Reilly. Peterson, a former player herself, has been the director of operations since 2006. The team’s strong culture and cohesion were evident when players quickly expressed support for Busboom Kelly. Despite the transition, players have ensured that freshmen, who committed to play under Cook, feel supported. With beach volleyball season approaching, the team is looking forward to hitting the court with the new coaching staff and a strong sense of unity. The players are determined to continue Nebraska’s legacy under Busboom Kelly’s leadership.
