Investigation into the death of Nebraska State Patrol trooper while on duty

Nebraska State Patrol is mourning the loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy, who tragically died in the line of duty after being struck by a snowplow. The incident occurred on Interstate 80 when McAcy and another trooper responded to a crash involving the snowplow and two other vehicles. McAcy had reportedly asked the snowplow driver to move the vehicle before he was hit. Witnesses alerted the troopers, who provided aid, but unfortunately, McAcy succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, expected to take one to two months, while the Iowa State Patrol will inspect the snowplow. Col. John Bolduc expressed sympathy for the plow driver, highlighting the tragic nature of the accident. The Cass County Attorney’s Office will determine if the driver will face charges. The law enforcement community is mourning the loss of Trooper McAcy, described as hardworking and always there to help.
