Class 43 of Nebraska LEAD explores national agriculture and policy through study and travel seminar

The Nebraska LEAD Program’s Class 43 Fellows recently completed a 10-day National Study/Travel Seminar, providing them with an in-depth understanding of regional and national agricultural systems, policy, and advocacy. The seminar took participants to key agricultural and policy hubs, including Kansas City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Moline, IL. Fellows engaged with industry leaders, policymakers, and innovative businesses to gain insights into how national and global decisions impact Nebraska’s agriculture.

The immersive experience included visits to organizations like MyCo Planet, the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City, and the U.S. Capitol. Fellows also met with Nebraska Senators and foreign embassies to discuss key agricultural issues. The seminar concluded with visits to the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences and John Deere in Moline.

The Nebraska LEAD Program, established in 1981, aims to develop agricultural leaders who can address future challenges. With over 1,200 graduates, the program offers a unique blend of education, travel, and personal development opportunities. Applications for Nebraska LEAD 44, starting in fall 2025, are currently being accepted. For more information, visit lead.unl.edu.
