Several Nebraska cities have declared snow emergencies following a heavy snowfall over the Valentine’s Day weekend. Blair and Fremont are among the cities that have implemented emergency measures to deal with the aftermath of the snowstorm.
Blair’s snow emergency is currently in effect and will expire on Sunday at noon. During this time, vehicles are prohibited from parking on city streets until the snow has been cleared and has stopped falling for at least eight hours. Violators may face towing to the city impound lot.
Similarly, Fremont has also declared a snow emergency that will last until Sunday at noon. City officials are urging residents to stay home if possible to assist with road clearance efforts.
The snowstorm has caused hazardous road conditions in the region, with low visibility and slippery spots. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and be mindful of the packed snow on the roads.
These emergency measures aim to ensure public safety and facilitate the efficient removal of snow to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
