Nebraska-based startup awarded NASA’s Galactic Impact prize in the 2024 Space Apps Challenge

Nebraska-based AgTech startup Nave Analytics, in collaboration with VITech, won the Galactic Impact Award in the 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge. The team developed a planting tool called 2Plant or not 2Plant, using satellite data, weather data, and hydrology modeling to help farmers make informed decisions about planting. The app aims to provide information on soil moisture levels, optimal planting windows, and frost risks to avoid issues like getting tractors stuck in wet fields.

Nave plans to secure intellectual property rights for the tool and release it to existing irrigation customers for beta testing in the upcoming planting season. The startup will evaluate the tool’s performance and gather feedback before making it commercially available, either as an additional tool to their irrigation product or as a standalone offering for non-irrigated acres. Jessi Korinek, co-founder of Nave Analytics, stated that winning the award and gaining international recognition validates the company’s efforts to assist farmers with innovative technology.
