Snowfall blankets Southeast Nebraska and Northeast Kansas in February storm


Several schools in Beatrice, Nebraska, closed due to a winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service. The storm was expected to bring five to seven inches of snow to the southeast corner of Nebraska. Other areas, such as northeast Kansas, were also expecting similar snowfall amounts. The storm warning was in effect until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping below zero overnight and wind chills reaching double digits below zero on Thursday. In addition to schools, campuses of Southeast Community College were closed as well. Some areas, such as Burchard and Table Rock, had already reported two to four inches of snow by early Wednesday morning. Beatrice specifically had received three inches of snow by 6:30 a.m. The snow totals were expected to range from four to seven inches in the region.
