WNCC women triumph over NJC with a score of 76-58 in the Panhandle region


Western Nebraska Community College’s women’s basketball team, ranked 24th, secured a 76-58 victory over Northeastern Junior College, maintaining their unbeaten record in the South Sub-region. The team made 13 3-pointers, with Zozefine Sipolina leading in scoring with 20 points. The win marked the Cougars’ fifth consecutive victory as they improved to 18-5 overall and 5-0 in the sub-region.

In the men’s game, Western Nebraska Community College defeated Northeastern Junior College 86-72, with Elijah Hollins contributing 25 points, including seven 3-pointers. The win brought the Cougars to 9-13 on the season and 4-2 in sub-region play. Kellon Harris added 16 points, as the team remains just behind Lamar Community College in the sub-region standings.

Both WNCC teams showed dominance from the 3-point arc, with the women shooting 41% and the men shooting 43%. The women’s team will face the Colorado State Club team next, while the men prepare for games against Otero and Trinidad State.
