Nebraska Public Libraries Receive $20,000 in Internship Grants

The Nebraska Library Commission has awarded $20,000 in internship grants to sixteen public libraries in the state. These grants will support student interns who will contribute to various programs and activities in the libraries. The interns will gain valuable work experience by shadowing staff, assisting with day-to-day operations, and implementing special projects. The activities they will be involved in include summer reading programs, after school programming, cataloging, inventory, shelving reconfiguration, and organizing new library boards, among others.

The grants were awarded to public libraries such as Bennington Public Library, Clarkson Public Library, Lexington Public Library, Madison Public Library, Palmyra Memorial Library, South Sioux City Public Library, and others. The funding for the project is supported and administered by the Nebraska Library Commission in partnership with the Nebraska Library Systems.

The Nebraska Library Commission’s mission is to promote, develop, and coordinate library and information services statewide. The Regional Library Systems in Nebraska work to improve library services through collaboration among various types of libraries and media centers in the region.
