Neo-Nazi Group Sued by Springfield, Ohio for Alleged Haitian Intimidation

Springfield, Ohio, recently filed a lawsuit against a neo-Nazi group called the Blood Tribe, alleging that the group incited a campaign of harassment and intimidation against supporters of the city’s Haitian community. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, seeks a jury trial to stop further threats and impose damages. The Blood Tribe is accused of engaging in racist attacks against those who support Haitian immigrants in the city. The group allegedly displayed guns, waved swastika flags, and made hateful comments at a city event. They also reportedly sent harassing voicemails, emails, and used dating apps to send unwanted visitors to residents’ homes.

The friction between the Haitian population in Springfield and local residents has increased in recent years due to the large influx of Haitian immigrants fleeing violence in their home country. The tensions in the city escalated after a child was killed in a car accident involving a Haitian driver in 2023. Republican President Donald Trump falsely claimed during a debate that Springfield’s Haitian immigrants were abducting and eating pets, drawing international attention to the city.

The lawsuit also mentions a national advocacy group’s attempt to file criminal charges against Trump and his running mate over the chaos and threats experienced by Springfield. The matter was referred to the county prosecutor for investigation, and an appeal has been filed in the Ohio Supreme Court regarding the judges’ jurisdiction in the case. The lawsuit against the Blood Tribe is still pending in court.
