The Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology marked World Cancer Day by organizing a cancer awareness rally in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Teresian College. Dr. Raxith Sringeri emphasized the need for a holistic approach to fighting cancer, which includes physical fitness, mental well-being, and environmental protection. He highlighted the growing number of cancer patients in the country and stressed the importance of a balanced diet, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight to reduce cancer risk. Dr. Sringeri also pointed out the significant role of mental health in cancer prevention and the harmful effects of air pollution on lung cancer. The rally, which saw the participation of over 500 students, passed through several important locations in the city and aimed to raise awareness about cancer prevention strategies. Shiva Prasad, faculty coordinator of the Rotaract Club, Teresian College, and principal S.R. Rohini were among those present at the event. Dr. Sringeri’s insightful remarks shed light on the various factors contributing to cancer development and highlighted the importance of a well-rounded approach to cancer prevention.
