Thompson Forum to Present Photography Panel and Photo Contest on Feb. 10

The 2024-25 E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues is offering two free events in February centered around photography and nature. The first event, “Conservation Photography: Witnessing Water and Wildlife,” will take place on February 10 and feature a panel discussion with photographers from the Platte Basin Timelapse project at the Global Education Center. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Additionally, a Lessons from the Natural World Photo Contest is being held, with categories for different age groups and a “People’s Choice” category. The contest requires original photos taken in 2024 or 2025 that capture a lesson learned from nature.

The E.N. Thompson Forum’s 2024-25 season is focused on the theme “Lessons from the Natural World” and includes various events throughout the year, such as lectures by Amy Tan, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Ed Yong, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. The forum, established in 1988, aims to bring diverse viewpoints on international and public policy issues to the university and the people of Nebraska to promote understanding and discussion.
