Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal after spending three years with the Cornhuskers. The talented rusher was a key part of Nebraska’s offense this past season, finishing second on the team with 523 rushing yards and 262 receiving yards while scoring two touchdowns.
Johnson’s decision to transfer comes after a successful end to the regular season, where he helped Nebraska become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016 with a standout performance against Wisconsin. Despite leaving Nebraska, Johnson expressed his gratitude to his coaches, teammates, and fans, thanking them for their support.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Johnson will be looking for a new team through the transfer portal. Nebraska, on the other hand, is gearing up for a bowl game and some staff changes. Dana Holgorsen will officially take over as offensive coordinator, with Marcus Satterfield moving to tight ends coach. It will be interesting to see where Johnson ends up and how Nebraska adjusts to the changes in their coaching staff.
