Manischewitz to Sponsor First-Ever Jewish Quarterback at BYU

BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff, the first Jewish quarterback in program history, recently signed an NIL sponsorship with kosher food company Manischewitz. Retzlaff, known as “BYJew,” is one of three Jewish students at the LDS university and has led the Cougars to a 10-2 record this season. He has thrown for nearly 2,800 yards, with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Manischewitz, a company founded in 1888, produces kosher products like matzo, macaroons, and wine. Retzlaff has a personal connection to the brand, having grown up with their products as part of his family’s traditions. The partnership with Manischewitz will allow him to share his Jewish heritage and traditions with his teammates and fans. In a promotional video, Retzlaff does football drills with a box of matzo, and limited-edition Jake Retzlaff Matzo Boxes will be produced to celebrate the partnership. Manischewitz will also feature Retzlaff in video content on social media to share his story and connection to the brand. Shani Seidman, chief marketing officer of Manischewitz’s parent company Kayco, expressed pride in welcoming Retzlaff to the Manischewitz family and supporting his football career. The partnership reflects the brand’s values of celebrating Jewish heritage and excellence in sports.
