Elon Musk invested over $20 million into a mysterious super PAC called RBG PAC at the end of the 2024 campaign to support President-elect Donald Trump. The group ran ads claiming Trump did not support a federal abortion ban, drawing criticism from Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s granddaughter. Musk’s donation of $20.5 million to RBG PAC came from the “Elon Musk Revocable Trust.” The super PAC spent its funds on digital ads, mailers, and text messages. RBG PAC’s website highlighted Trump’s and Ginsburg’s agreement on abortion, despite past positions taken by Trump. Furthermore, Musk also donated $157 million to America PAC, which supported Trump in the presidential race. America PAC spent on canvassing and digital advertising, and also ran a controversial cash giveaway campaign. The Justice Department warned about the legality of the giveaway, but no action was taken. Musk also gave $3 million to MAHA Alliance, a super PAC connected to Robert F. Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign. Musk’s donations to pro-Trump efforts may have been more extensive, as more fundraising reports are still being filed. Musk, a top donor to Trump, has been visible in the president’s circle, advising him on government efficiency initiatives.
