In the K-12 school days, classrooms can be chaotic, but for Seth Wert and his fellow agricultural education majors, their hands-on training prepares them for the challenges of becoming future teachers. Wert, inspired by his FFA mentors, found the perfect launching pad for his career in CASNR’s Agricultural Education program. From handling distractions like paper airplanes to learning how to build a positive classroom culture, Wert and his classmates are on track to become effective classroom teachers.
The agricultural education major combines technical aspects of ag research with leadership and teaching skills, and Wert believes that his early exposure to real-world classroom experience confirmed that this was the right path for him. With roots in a farming town and a passion for agriculture instilled by his FFA advisors, Wert is determined to help students find their own enthusiasm for agriculture. He credits his experiences in FFA for making him realize his lifelong dream of becoming an ag-focused educator.
