Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska to receive new 95th Wing in the upcoming year

Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska will be home to a new 95th Wing, as confirmed by the Air Force on Tuesday. The new wing is expected to be fully operational by 2027 and will add about 70 personnel to Offutt by 2025. It will include elements of the 595th Command & Control Group, reserves from the 610th Command and Control Squadron, and missile-command Air National Guard units. The creation of the new command structure aims to streamline operations under a single commander and advocate, Col. David Beaumont.

Nebraska’s congressional delegation, including U.S. Sens. Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts, along with U.S. Reps. Don Bacon, Mike Flood, and Adrian Smith, expressed their satisfaction with the decision. Fischer highlighted the importance of centralizing nuclear command and control functions at Offutt, calling it the “center of gravity” for such missions. Ricketts praised Offutt for its critical role in ensuring America’s strategic deterrence.

Bacon, a retired Air Force brigadier general, noted that the new wing is the result of years of hard work, while Flood emphasized the economic benefits of increasing national security roles at Offutt. Smith, representing a district that includes service members at Offutt, commended the decision to enhance strategic readiness in response to the evolving global security environment.

The collaborative efforts of state and local governments, business leaders, and current and former members of Congress were also acknowledged for prioritizing Offutt’s future. Flood thanked the Air Force for their commitment and looked forward to welcoming the new 95th Wing to Nebraska.
