Nebraska City Mayor Bryan Bequette and the city council are starting a new term with some familiar faces. Bequette, along with commissioners Patrick Wehling and Ron Osovski, have been reelected to their positions following the November general elections. City department heads, including City Administrator Perry Mader and Police Chief Ben Murry, have also been reappointed to two-year terms.
Bequette praised the continuity provided by Wehling and Osovski, stating that their experience and dedication to their roles will benefit the council. He also commended Mader for his accomplishments in bringing city departments together and improving interdepartmental collaboration.
Murry, who succeeded the retiring David Lacy as police chief in September, has been busy implementing new ideas and plans within the department. One of his immediate priorities is filling the vacant sergeant position.
Overall, the new city council and reappointed department heads are focused on continuing the progress made in Nebraska City and working together to address the city’s needs and challenges.
