The legal battle over the campaign for medical marijuana in Nebraska continues, with attorneys seeking to amend their complaint post-ruling to include more evidence of alleged fraud and malfeasance in the signature collection process. Despite a judge’s ruling in favor of campaign sponsors, attorneys for John Kuehn and the Attorney General’s office are trying to prepare the court record for appeal. They claim that discovery during the trial revealed more evidence of fraudulent behavior than was initially known. However, the campaign’s representatives argue that allowing the plaintiffs to amend their complaint would fundamentally change the case and shift the focus from numbers to pervasive fraud, which was not proven in the trial. They also point out that some of the information the plaintiffs want to include in the complaint only came to light after the trial. The judge expressed the need for a higher court to consider the facts and will soon rule on whether the plaintiffs can update their complaint. Subscribe to 10/11 NOW for daily news alerts.
