The Department of Political Science at the University of Nebraska will be hosting a special event on October 30th featuring a conversation with former Nebraska politician Scott Moore. The event, titled “Reflections on a Career in Nebraska Politics: A Fireside Chat with Scott Moore,” will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Chimney Rock room of the Nebraska Union.
Scott Moore, who represented the 24th district in the Nebraska Legislature from 1987 to 1994 and served as Nebraska’s Secretary of State from 1994 to 2000, will be sharing insights from his political career. He is also known for his support of the Legislative Page program. Following his time in politics, Moore held executive positions at Union Pacific and worked as a lobbyist with Edwards Westerhold Moore.
The event will be moderated by Luke McDermott, a senior majoring in political science, economics, and history at the university. McDermott recently spoke on a panel discussing the legacy of the U.S. Civil War and was awarded a prestigious Voyager Scholarship for Public Service.
The event is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity for students, faculty, and community members to gain valuable insights into the world of Nebraska politics from someone with firsthand experience. Attendees can expect an engaging and informative discussion that sheds light on the challenges and rewards of a career in public service.
