Police say Colorado dentist accused of poisoning wife’s protein shakes attempted to murder detective

New charges have been filed against Colorado dentist James Craig, who is accused of fatally poisoning his wife’s protein shakes. These new charges focus on allegations that he tried to have a detective involved in the case killed. Craig, who has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife, now faces charges of solicitation to commit first-degree murder and solicitation to commit perjury.

According to reports, Craig was in jail with the man he allegedly tried to have commit the murder on two occasions. The detective targeted in the alleged plot had worked on the investigation into Angela Craig’s death. Authorities previously accused James Craig of poisoning his wife’s drink with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, resulting in her death. Evidence suggests that Craig had researched the detectability of arsenic in autopsies and had purchased cyanide before his wife’s death.

Despite these allegations, Craig’s previous defense lawyer stated that there was no direct evidence linking him to the poisoning. However, the lawyer withdrew from the case just before jury selection was set to begin, citing concerns about his client’s actions. Jury selection has been indefinitely postponed as Craig now faces these new charges related to the alleged plot to kill the detective. It is unclear if Craig has obtained new legal representation to address these latest charges.
