Edgar Estrada, a Bertrand, Nebraska man, became a hero when he rescued a baby from a hot car with barely opened windows at a roping tournament in Central City, Nebraska. Estrada, who was already on his horse, FJ, at the Merrick County Fairgrounds, followed the sound of a faint cry and found the baby in distress. Taking quick action, he used his knife to open the window and save the baby, who is now living in a foster home.
Estrada’s heroic act led to him being nominated and honored at the Nebraska-Iowa game, where he will have his name put on the Heroes Game Trophy and be recognized on the field at halftime. Despite his humble nature, Estrada’s brave actions have been praised, with many commending him for his quick thinking and life-saving instincts.
Estrada’s experience as a burn victim in his youth has inspired him to always pay attention and help others in need, reaffirming the importance of trusting one’s gut and instincts in difficult situations.
