Nebraska Volleyball Dominates Northwestern for 19th Consecutive Victory

No. 2 Nebraska volleyball swept Northwestern in front of a program-record crowd, improving their record to 22-1 and 12-0 in the Big Ten. The Huskers dominated the Wildcats with a strong performance from Merritt Beason and Andi Jackson. Bergen Reilly also contributed with four kills, 25 assists, and nine digs. Lexi Rodriguez tied for second on Nebraska’s career digs list. Head coach John Cook was not satisfied with his team’s offensive aggressiveness despite the dominant win.

Nebraska set the tone early in the match and controlled most of the game, out-blocking the Wildcats and serving up seven aces. The Huskers hit .287 and held Northwestern to .082 hitting. In the second set, Nebraska used a 5-0 run to take control and ultimately win the game. The Huskers’ defense was strong, holding Northwestern to minus-.036 hitting in the second set.

In the third set, Nebraska continued their dominance, jumping out to an early lead and closing out the match with an 8-3 run. They hit .290 in the third set and held Northwestern to .059 hitting. Coach Cook made some changes in the lineup, giving Leyla Blackwell and Lindsay Krause opportunities to contribute off the bench.

The Huskers will aim to extend their winning streak to 20 as they head west for a road trip, starting with a matchup against No. 10 Oregon on Thursday. Despite their impressive record, Coach Cook emphasized the need for his team to maintain their offensive intensity moving forward.
