A worker in Wellesley, Massachusetts, was seriously injured when he received an electric shock while hanging Christmas lights on a tree. The 22-year-old man, who works for NZ Power Wash in Framingham, was using a 34-foot pole to string up lights when it came in contact with an electrical line atop a utility pole, giving him a shock. He collapsed, and a coworker performed CPR until police arrived and used a defibrillator to get his heart beating. He was then taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. OSHA is investigating the incident along with the police and the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant. The victim is recovering in the hospital. Police, Fire, and WMLP Departments extended their thoughts and prayers to the victim and his family. The accident serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents.
