The Ameritas Emerging Leaders Academy has launched its first cohort, featuring 17 students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Business. Funded by Ameritas, the program aims to equip undergraduates with essential skills for success in today’s global environment. Students participate in professional development sessions and gain insights into the insurance industry. The cohort includes students from Nebraska, as well as other states and countries.
Throughout the seven-month program, students will work with faculty and industry experts to develop leadership skills and prototype solutions for challenges in the insurance sector. The inaugural cohort was welcomed by Ameritas’ CEO, Bob Jurgensmeier, and other leaders, who emphasized the importance of developing leadership skills and problem-solving abilities.
The program’s curriculum includes sessions on positive and strengths-based leadership, as well as hands-on experience with real-world industry projects. Students will present their final projects to senior leadership at Ameritas in May, expanding their professional network and preparing for future challenges in their careers.
The Ameritas Emerging Leaders Academy provides a bridge between academic excellence and career readiness, offering students the opportunity to grow as communicators, leaders, and aspiring professionals in the insurance industry. The program has been well-received by students, who value the hands-on experience and personal development opportunities it provides. This initiative highlights Ameritas’ commitment to supporting education and helping build the next generation of business leaders.
