Urel Darlington, the only male member of the Jamaica Reach To Recovery breast cancer outreach group, is facing a recurrence of breast cancer in his right breast, two years after his initial diagnosis in his left breast. Darlington first discovered a lump in his left breast in 2020 but waited over a year before seeking medical attention. His wife, Vivienne, encouraged him to see a doctor after noticing the lump but he was hesitant due to fear and a belief that it was not important.
After finally being diagnosed with breast cancer, Darlington underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but now faces the possibility of another cancer diagnosis after a recent biopsy. Vivienne is advocating for her husband to receive treatment overseas, believing it will be more effective than what is available in Jamaica.
Despite the challenges they are facing, Vivienne urges men to pay attention to their health and seek medical attention if they experience any abnormalities. She emphasizes the importance of early detection in prolonging life.
