Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with various entities on Wednesday to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities and securing aid ahead of the winter season. At the International Defence Industries Forum, Zelenskyy spoke with CEOs and top managers of leading defence companies from more than 30 countries about expanding cooperation to bolster the Ukrainian defence sector. He emphasized the need for foreign investment, experience, and technology to continue growth.
Additionally, Zelenskyy met with Samantha Power, the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to discuss US support for Ukraine heading into winter. They focused on projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy grid, restoring critical infrastructure, enhancing air defence, and building school shelters. Power noted that USAID is involved in renovating 10,000 school shelters in Ukraine.
In his nightly address, Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of Ukraine and its neighbours working together to combat threats such as ‘Shahed’ drones and missiles. He condemned Russia’s recent attack with drones targeting civilian infrastructure, emphasizing the need for a unified international response.
Zelenskyy’s efforts to secure foreign military investment and humanitarian aid demonstrate Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening its defences and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. As winter approaches, cooperation with international partners will be crucial in safeguarding Ukraine’s security and stability.
