The Chicago White Sox suffered their 121st loss of the season against the Detroit Tigers, setting a new MLB record for most losses in a season. The team, which won the AL Central division in 2021, has been on a steady decline, winning fewer games each season since then. Offense has been a major issue for the White Sox, with low rankings in key statistical categories like hits, runs, home runs, and batting average. First baseman Andrew Vaughn has the highest batting average on the team but is ranked 87th in the league. The team had a rough start to the season, going 3-22 in their first 25 games, the worst in franchise history. Chicago also set a franchise record by losing 21 consecutive games, becoming the first team to do so since 1988. Despite winning nine games in May and June, the team only managed to win seven games in July and August. The White Sox have six games left in the season and will look to avoid setting any more unwanted records as they wrap up a disappointing year.
