Democrats are planning to launch a new messaging campaign to coax Donald Trump back onto the debate stage with Vice President Kamala Harris, calling Trump a “chicken” for refusing to participate in another debate. The Democratic National Committee will use static and mobile billboards, as well as a staff member dressed as a chicken at Trump’s upcoming campaign events. The billboards will feature an image of Trump in a chicken suit with the words “There’s no debate: Donald Trump’s a chicken.” Harris and Trump had one debate this cycle, but Trump has declared he will not participate in another. Harris has accepted an invitation to participate in a debate on Oct. 23, which Trump had previously praised CNN for hosting. However, Trump has reiterated his decision not to participate, citing that it is too late in the election cycle with voting already started. The Democratic National Committee pointed out that in the 2020 election, Trump and Biden debated after voting had begun. Trump’s campaign did not comment on the new messaging campaign.
