Zelenskyy to unveil ‘victory plan’ for Ukraine during US trip as tensions with Russia persist

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged US President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes inside Russia using US-supplied weapons, to help end the war. Zelenskyy is set to visit the US, including the UN, to gather support for Ukraine’s fight against Russian forces. He will present a “victory plan” to end the war and is expected to visit a Pennsylvania ammunition factory producing much-needed munitions for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy stressed the importance of western allies providing necessary weaponry and permission to use it to stop the Russian advance. He also seeks permission to use western weapons against targets deep inside Russia to prevent air attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned of war with the US and Nato if Ukraine is allowed to use long-range weapons.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have reportedly attacked two Russian munitions depots, showcasing their ability to strike targets deep inside Russia. Russia has accused Iran of supplying drones and missiles that are being used in the conflict, a claim denied by Iran. The situation remains tense, with violence escalating and casualties mounting in both Ukraine and Russia.

Zelenskyy’s visit to the US and his plea to Biden for support in allowing long-range strikes in Russia come as Ukraine seeks to end the war and assert its sovereignty.
