Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert reaggravated a high-ankle sprain during the team’s 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Herbert, who had been dealing with the injury leading up to the game, left in the third quarter and did not return. Despite throwing a touchdown early in the game, the Chargers struggled to generate much offense afterward. The ground game was also ineffective, with the team only managing 61 rushing yards. Herbert was sacked twice before leaving the game with the same ankle injury he sustained in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. He was seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot. Coach Jim Harbaugh had planned to remove Herbert from the game if he showed any signs of being hindered by the injury. The loss against the Steelers was the Chargers’ first of the season, dropping their record to 2-1, while Pittsburgh remained undefeated at 3-0. The extent of Herbert’s injury and his availability for future games is uncertain, but the team will likely monitor his progress closely. Despite the setback, the Chargers will need to regroup and prepare for their next game.
