Protests in Bangladesh Continue One Month After Government Overthrown by Youth Revolution


In a recent episode, we spoke with members of the Bangladesh community one month after a youth-led movement ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule. The movement, originally a protest against a government job quota system, evolved into a massive revolution that resulted in over 1,000 deaths and 400 students losing their eyesight due to police violence.

Our guests, including Bangladeshi student activist Prapti Taposhi, Columbia University graduate Tasnima Zaman, and “John,” the owner of The Bangladeshi Voice Instagram account, discussed what the future holds for the youth of Bangladesh and whether the interim government can fulfill its promises.
