Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are set to debate each other in a televised event next week, after their campaigns agreed to the ground rules set by host network ABC. The debate will take place in Philadelphia and use the same format as the previous debate between Trump and President Joe Biden. Both campaigns initially agreed to the debate but there was some uncertainty after Trump suggested he might back out and Harris’ team sought to change the rule on muted microphones. However, they eventually agreed to the rules which include muted microphones for the candidate who is not speaking, a format that Trump accepted with some reluctance. The 90-minute debate will be moderated by ABC News hosts David Muir and Linsey Davis. Both candidates will stand for the entire debate, be given two minutes to answer questions, and have the opportunity for rebuttals and follow-up responses. The rules also state that neither candidate will be allowed notes or props. The debate is seen as an important opportunity for both candidates to present their visions to voters, and the outcome could potentially have a significant impact on the election.
