Hurricane Ernesto is approaching Bermuda, with dangerous conditions expected to start Friday. The category 2 storm is moving at 13 mph and is forecasted to bring 100 mph winds and up to 15 inches of rain to the island. A hurricane warning is in place for the entire island, with preparations to protect life and property urged by the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected to pass over or near Bermuda on Saturday with possible strengthening before that. Ernesto will remain a large hurricane through the weekend, causing a dangerous storm surge and significant coastal flooding in Bermuda. Swells from the storm will also affect the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Bahamas, and potentially the U.S. East Coast, leading to life-threatening surf and rip currents. Beach-goers are advised to stay out of the water if lifeguards recommend it. In Puerto Rico, Ernesto left half the island without power. The storm is expected to move north and pass east of Newfoundland on Monday.
