The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have come to a close, with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Stade de France. More than 10,000 athletes participated, with Olympic gold medalists Katie Ledecky and Nick Mead representing Team USA as flag bearers. The ceremony featured performances by Phoenix and H.E.R., and Tom Cruise symbolized the handover to the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. Team USA had an outstanding performance, winning 125 medals, including 40 golds. Standout performances included Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Katie Ledecky, Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, and Cole Hocker. Biles and Lee led the U.S. women’s gymnastics team on a “redemption tour”, while Ledecky became the most decorated American woman in Olympic history. The track and field athletes also shined, with Richardson, Lyles, Thomas, and Hocker all achieving great success. The Paris Games were filled with extraordinary feats of strength and resilience, leaving spectators in awe of the incredible athletic talent on display.
