Starting in mid-October, Disney is raising prices on its streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Most plans for these services will increase by $1 to $2 per month, with the most expensive Hulu plans (including live TV) going up by $6 per month. Disney+ basic and premium plans will be priced at $9.99 and $15.99, respectively, while Hulu plans with ads will cost $9.99 or $18.99 per month without ads. ESPN+ will cost $11.99 per month.
Disney aims to encourage customers to opt for bundles to get more value for their money. They offer bundles of Disney+ and Hulu, or all three streaming services for a discounted price. They also have partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery for a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max.
In addition to the price hikes, Disney is adding new features to attract subscribers, including ABC News Live and curated playlists of preschool content. These changes are part of Disney’s efforts to provide the best value and experience for its subscribers. Disney plans to introduce more curated playlists for premium subscribers in the future.
The company will report its fiscal third-quarter earnings on Wednesday, indicating that these price increases and new features are part of a larger strategy to continue growing and evolving their streaming services.
