Eleven months into the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, Palestinians in Gaza are still facing severe difficulties in accessing basic necessities such as food and clean water. The war has restricted the entry of much-needed aid into the region, forcing families to rely on makeshift charity kitchens for survival. These families must endure long lines in the scorching heat to receive a meal, mainly consisting of rice with chicken provided only once a week.
Abu Hamzah, who runs a charity kitchen in Deir al-Balah, estimates that between 8,000 and 10,000 displaced people benefit from his services. Displaced individuals like Um Yehia Shaheen describe the daily struggle of waiting in line for hours under the sun just to obtain food and water. Access to water has become a major issue in Gaza, with wells being destroyed by Israeli airstrikes.
In Deir al-Balah, Palestinians must stand in line for hours to fill up their containers with water from scarce water barrels. This has led to hardships and difficulties in the daily lives of displaced individuals like Mohamed Hanounah, who described their situation as barely surviving rather than living. The lack of access to basic necessities has made life extremely challenging for Palestinians in Gaza.
The ongoing conflict has taken a toll on the daily lives of Palestinians in Gaza, with basic necessities becoming increasingly scarce. The international community is urged to take action to provide much-needed aid to those who are suffering in the region.
