The European Commission has introduced a migration pact implementation plan, urging EU member states to present their own national plans by the end of the year. The first EU migration pact aims to standardize border procedures and improve the handling of irregular migrants within the EU, with a deadline for implementation set for June 2026.
Radio Schuman recently discussed the new EU migration policy with Federica Toscano of Save the Children Europe, focusing on how member states will implement the pact while also respecting human rights. The legislation is expected to face political challenges, but the goal is to create a more unified approach to migration across the EU.
In addition to the migration pact, the AI Act recently went into effect on August 1st, with companies required to comply with the new regulations within specified deadlines. The EU is expected to provide support to help companies meet the requirements of the new law.
On a lighter note, Radio Schuman also touched on the Olympics, questioning the value of an Olympic gold medal and whether athletes are actually receiving pure gold during the awards ceremonies.
Hosted and produced by Maïa de la Baume, Radio Schuman features journalist and production assistant Eleonora Vasques, with audio editing by Zacharia Vigneron and music by Alexandre Jas. Stay tuned for more updates on EU policies and news.
