The 31st Nebraska Star Party will be held from July 28th to August 2nd at Merritt Reservoir, offering attendees a chance to explore astronomy in a remote, dark sky location. Organizer John Johnson highlights the unique experience of seeing the Milky Way in its full glory for the first time, attracting visitors from various cities. Around 300 people of all ages attend each year, with workshops catering to different experience levels. Beginners can join the Beginner’s Field School to learn basic skills, while advanced observers can participate in workshops and meet like-minded individuals. Campers must register in advance, but drop-in visitors are also welcome to explore the event. The full schedule can be found on the Nebraska Star Party website, where registration is also available. Participants can expect a transformative and educational experience under the dark night skies of Merritt Reservoir.
