Overton secures Class D All-Sports title with three Nebraska high school state titles

The Overton Eagles secured the Class D All-Sports title, their first since 1967, by winning the boys golf championship. The Eagles finished ahead of Wynot in the combined boys-girls standings, with their girls volleyball-basketball sweep contributing to their success. North Platte St. Patrick’s led the boys standings, while Overton moved up to fourth in the combined standings after the winter sports season. Their track teams performed well, with the boys finishing third and the girls finishing sixth. Overton widened their lead in the boys golf championship, finishing 11 strokes ahead of Hitchcock County. St. Patrick’s boys amassed 50.5 points throughout the season, securing a Class D title in cross country and top rankings in basketball and football. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller and Wynot also had their best-ever finishes in boys scoring. Wynot’s girls finished behind Overton in the rankings, with O’Neill St. Mary’s taking third place. Schools in selective-sport cooperative sponsorships received equal splits in the All-Sports point system. This win marks a historic achievement for Overton, capping off a successful season for the Eagles.
